About
From my first game at 6 months old, I knew baseball would be my passion. I grew up in the baseball world, the granddaughter of Tex Simone, a man who poured everything he had in to the Syracuse Chiefs, a team that would see affiliations with the Tigers, Yankees, Blue Jays and now the Nationals. He saved baseball in Syracuse in the 1970s and would live a proud career with the team that lasted 53 years. He worked his way from the bottom to the top and has always been my hero, my source of encouragement, the reason for my passion for the game and my biggest fan.
From a young age, I expressed an interest in the business of baseball and who better to learn from than my grandpa. I watched his every move, every interaction with a fan or a player and knew that this would be my career path someday. Not a summer day went by that I wasn't at the ballpark and I wouldn't have had it any other way. I started working part-time officially by the age of 16, helping out wherever I could and even when I went away to college in FL, I would return every summer for baseball season.
My grandpa always instilled in me that one of the most important parts of the game was making the players feel like a part of the family. He told me often to remember that if it were not for them, we would not have a team. With that, I always took an interest in helping the players during their time in Syracuse and making them and their families feel at home. Fast forward to 2013 when the idea of starting my own business came to mind. With Covering the Bases, I want to continue the values that my grandpa instilled in me at a young age and assist players and their families in every need, wherever their baseball journey may take them.
